WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
about
Sew Creative Lounge…

"I am so happy to have found
Sew Creative Lounge.

Tisha and Cecily have
inspired me to pull my sewing machine out of the closet after so many years.
I love their energy and I love the community that they
have created."

 Lori J.

“I’ve been sewing all my life and I can’t believe things that
I learned during the webinar. Like who knew that you can use a sewing gauge as a compass and the end of it is exactly ⅝ of inch?! Thank you Sew Creative Lounge for what you do and encouraging me to keep sewing.”

Anika K.

“I’ve been taking classes at Sew Creative Lounge for three years now and I have found my second home.

All of the instructors are so patient and knowledgeable.
I always feel confident that
I can do it when
with their guidance.”

Erica Bunker is the editor and creative director of Erica Bunker | DIY Style! The Art of Cultivating a Stylish Wardrobe.

Based in Birmingham, Alabama, Erica is also a self-taught seamstress, burgeoning designer, public speaker, wardrobe stylist and consultant whose personal style motto is: “Why buy it, when you can make it!” Erica is a woman who believes in occasion-appropriate dressing instead of age-appropriate dressing, who is not afraid of celebrating her femininity.

Monica Tetteh

Monica Tetteh is founder and owner of That’s Sew Monica. She’s originally from the Bronx, NY with roots from Ghana, West Africa. She started sewing to honor her mother’s legacy after the 10 year anniversary of her passing.

She hosts a monthly sewalong called #sewyourview on instagram as well as a monthly in person sewing meetup of all day sewing with friends called #projectsew that takes place in Dallas, TX. She recently launched a new series on my YouTube channel called “On the Road with That’s Sew Monica” where she highlights the Dallas area fashion district, home sewers and designers.

Afia Nson Bonsu

For Afia, art had always been somewhat of a family tradition and the driving force for every venture in her personal and professional life. Over the course of 30 years Afia Nson Bonsu has painted backdrops, constructed dance costumes, created wearable art, produced graphic tee designs, illustrated album covers, book covers and four children's books. In addition to her amazing work as a private seamstress, Afia also serves as an assistant costume designer a Caribbean Carnival band.

Afia has devoted every aspect of her life to her four children. Though she has birthed 4, she has and continues to raise, inspire and influence children across communities.

Eryn Shields

Eryn Shields is founder of Style Sew Me. She was born and raised in Alexandria, Louisiana and now lives in Dallas with her family. She began sewing during her pregnancy in 2013. She picked up sewing with the intention of making a few simple maxi dresses to get her through, but ended up falling in love with sewing.

She began the Style Sew Me blog in 2014 and hasn't looked back! The first two years of her sewing journey was spent in the same cycle of making what she loved on someone else. Thankfully, around 2017, she began to really get in touch with her style and Style Sew Me was born as her own pattern collection. A reflection of her vision of a versatile, comfortable, and stylish wardrobe took form in her Style Sew Me pattern collection, where she aims to provide patterns that are straight forward, versatile, and flattering for all body types.

Paulette Grant

Paulette has been teaching Beginner Sewing 2 and 3 and other classes at
Sew Creative Lounge for four years.

She is an avid seamstress, creating mainly women’s clothing and other projects for her friends and family.

Paulette has been sewing her entire life and learned from her parents, who were both sewers.

Nikki Griffin

After a successful 30 years in corporate America and a global pandemic, Nikki decided to return to her roots and teach people of all levels how to master the sewing craft. As an 8-year-old child at her grandmother’s knee, she begged her grandma to teach her to sew.

My grandmother’s spirit of determination was not going to stop her from teaching me this valuable craft. She followed her dreams and spent a career in the fashion industry in retail, merchandising and sales. She has been taught by some of the top designers in the industry and she wants to share what she has learned over the decades with you.

Carrie Augustin

Carrie has been teaching Beginner Sewing 1 at Sew Creative Lounge for four years.

For more than 25 years, Carrie has been making dance competition costumes and has won several awards. In 2019, she made costumes for the Morgan State University Marching Band Foxxy Dancers who wore them in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and The Today Show.

Carrie learned to sew from her grandmother, who was a home economics teacher and sewer. She loves sewing with stretch fabrics and her favorite garment to make is a kimono.
