WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
about
sew creative Lounge

“I really enjoyed making the patchwork pillow and the thread catcher at Sew Much Soul. The thread catcher I love! It was super easy to make and I can use it for more than thread. The time and patience from instructors has helped me build confidence. This has been a truly phenomenal experience and very rewarding.

Monica

"I have been sewing for 20 years, however I had never taken a formal class until I joined Sew Creative Lounge. Since then, I have created new relationships and shared my passion with my daughter, who also loves to sew and takes kids classes at Sew Creative Lounge."

Courtney

"I grew up in a household of sewers and in 2014 I met co-owner Tisha Thorne who taught my son how to sew. Since becoming a member, I can’t recall the last time I purchased ready-made clothing from a department store. I learned to confidently make pants and many other garments and now I'm excited about honing my quilting skills."

karen Baxter

As a professional crafter for over 9 years, Karen understands the unique mindset of a creative and how difficult it can be to bridge the gap between corporate and creativity. She is committed to empowering aspiring and seasoned crafters to shift their mindsets and level up their skill sets so that they can take their businesses out of the back room, into the boardroom and straight to the bank. Even though she is a Michaels Stores National Instructor and Star Maker, a Cricut Ambassador and she has coached hundreds of creatives to success, for her, the best part is seeing the light come on in someone's eyes and watching them grow into their best selves.

Afia Nson Bonsu

Leilani Gill founded Lani Rose in 2019. It was brought about by Leilani's love of fashion, design, and sewing amidst her job as a sewing instructor at Sew Creative Lounge. In addition to leading the children's program, she also is the lead pattern tester.

The pieces are inspired by West African fashion and modern styles. One of CCB Lani Rose's goals is to make functional everyday wear. Upon starting the business on Etsy, Leilani began to go more into making custom pieces, modeling them, and sharing them on social media platforms.

Nikki Griffin

After a successful 30 years in corporate America and a global pandemic, Nikki decided to return to her roots and teach people of all levels how to master the sewing craft. As an 8-year-old child at her grandmother’s knee, she begged her grandma to teach her to sew.

My grandmother’s spirit of determination was not going to stop her from teaching me this valuable craft. She followed her dreams and spent a career in the fashion industry in retail, merchandising and sales. She has been taught by some of the top designers in the industry and she wants to share what she has learned over the decades with you.

rakecia hanna

Rakecia is a career special educator by day, sewing instructor by night and for the past 5 years, she’s spent many evenings, weekends (and some of her summer break!) as an instructor at Sew Creative Lounge. The Native Washingtonian considers herself to be a "serial hobbyist" with photography and sewing at the top of the list right now. Rakecia grew up in a home where the word "bored" was not used because there was always "something" to do and she was often told to “go make something!” so she did just that, from fridge art and collages, greeting cards for family and scrapbooks with photos she’d taken to upcycling denim and tye dying, from an early age, her creative spirit was nurtured.

krystal taylor

Krystal Taylor, the Owner of Fitness Is NOT A Game, is a Health & Fitness Coach who helps women move off the scale and into the size of their dreams for good. She’s helped hundreds of people get healthier and lose weight by providing meal plans and workouts that are quick, yet effective. Although you will lose inches on her programs, her goal is to help you find the healthier you. As part of her balanced lifestyle, she’s an AVID avocado lover but also a beer enthusiast.
